Make Dad proud this Father’s Day

Father’s Day will probably look a little different this year, but you can still make it special for Dad with a gift from one of our many Penrith Proud local businesses.

High Street Music offer a huge range of instruments, sheet music, accessories, and gift vouchers that you can purchase online. Click and collect is available for local residents, as well as post and delivery.

To help Dad hone his skills, High Street Music also offer tuition services. Glenn Hobbs, Tuition Coordinator and proud Penrith local, says they commenced offering tuition locally “to offer high quality, experienced music instruction in the Penrith / Nepean region at a reasonable cost without the need to travel long distances”

Thanks to technology, High Street Music Tuition have adapted to online learning during lockdowns and are providing great resources through their tuition portal available 24/7. Glenn believes an outlet such as music is wonderful for mental health and your Dad playing an instrument is a great way for the whole family to connect and have fun while singing along.

If music isn’t his thing, perhaps Dad would enjoy a local lager? Penrith’s first microbrewery, Rusty Penny Brewing offer a Nepean and a Penrith Lager, which are full flavoured craft beers they’ve dubbed “The Beer of Penrith”. Currently you can purchase online and pick up via their drive through service or opt for delivery.

Owners Mark and Matt have been Penrith locals and mates since they met at a playgroup as toddlers. Loving everything Penrith, the pair admit COVID has been tough, but are encouraged by the local support they have received “we have managed to grow in both client base and broaden our markets during this pandemic and I believe that is a good sign of our resilience” said Mark.

Rusty Penny Brewing have big plans post-lockdown to host barbecue and brewing master classes and hospitality training sessions with plans to move to a much larger unit, so the pair say “The future is exciting”.

For the foodie dad, or one who likes a project, how about a homebrew or cheese-making kit from Country Brewer Nepean? Owned by Dee for more than nine years, she loves to see her customers “explore a whole new side of food, alcohol, and flavours they may not have experimented with or experienced before.”

Dee agrees the Penrith community is resilient enough to make it through this lockdown and remains open throughout. With more people spending time at home, Dee is focusing on the positives; “I’m thankful for the opportunity it has allowed people the time to experiment with making some of their own products”. Country Brewer Nepean is currently open and also offers delivery orders across a range of home brew and slow food kits and supplies.
